Last night Donald Rumsfeld, who has disappeared from the media spotlight for much of the week thanks to Charlie Sheen, went on The O'Reilly Factor...only to encounter a Bill O'Reilly who is as mad about the Iraq War as many Americans still are, and who was not going to miss the opportunity to voice his dissatisfaction to one of the architects of the war.

Must-see TV.

O'Reilly called the way the war was waged "a big screw up" and asked Rumsfeld why he did not anticipate the things that went wrong.

When Rumsfeld said he had, O'Reilly got angry, telling Rumsfeld that he should have informed the American public if he had any idea things could have gotten so out of control.

Check out this exchange:

Rumsfeld: We didn't know what would go wrong.

O'Reilly: But an idea what could go wrong. Shouldn't the public have been in on that?

Rumsfeld: I don't think so.

O'Reilly: Come on.

Rumsfeld: Why?

O'Reilly: Because they are the guys that are fighting. We are the people that elect people to make decisions.

Rumsfeld: The people fighting were aware of these things. They were wearing, for example, chemical suits.

O'Reilly: You are telling me that the American public did not have a right to know the parade of horribles that you knew? The unintended consequences?

Rumsfeld:: They did know many of those things.

O'Reilly: You should have told them and so should have President Bush told them.

Jon Stewart eat your heart out.

That Rumsfeld got his toughest interview from Bill O'Reilly on Fox News deserves to be noted.  Every once in a while O'Reilly earns his huge ratings and this was one of those times.
